Since 1 July 2016, the Government of the Balearic Islands has applied a Tax on Tourist Stays on the Islands, in accordance with Law 2/2016 of 30 March. The tax must be paid upon arrival at the hotel. In 2018, the charges and discounts are as follows:

• 4* Superior, 5* and 5* GL Hotels and Apartment Hotels: €4.00 per person, per night

Discounts are applied as follows:

• A 75% discount is applied for stays between 1 November and 30 April (inclusive).

• A 50% discount is applied from the ninth consecutive day onwards for accommodation at the same tourist establishment.

The following types of stays are exempt from this tax:

• Stays for children under 16 years of age.
